SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Technical College's Peace Officer Academy held a ceremony Friday for 14 graduates.

The graduates have completed the Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training Basic Law Enforcement Training Course. They're now qualified to become state-certified peace officers.

It's the 12th group to graduate since the program began in 2009.

Each class is named after a fallen officer. This class honored Sgt. Bobby Crapse who was killed June 15, 2012 in a head-on crash on Interstate 95 when another driver was headed the wrong way on the highway.

The family of the fallen officer is then given a challenge coin, which symbolizes the bond of dedication by military members and law enforcement officers, dedicated to the officer, according to Savannah Tech.
