SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Over 700 runners will gather at Savannah State University's Wright Stadium on May 11 for the 5k Celebration Run.

The professionally-timed community run will begin and end at Wright Stadium and wind through the Savannah State University campus.

Performance shirts, finisher's medals for all runners and awards for age group winners will be handed out at the event. Men, women and children are all invited to participate in the run.

The event will benefit Girls on the Run, an afterschool program dedicated to empowering pre-teen girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.

The "happiest run around town" will begin at 8:30 a.m. To register, visit www.girlsontherun-ga.org or www.active.com.
