Lowcountry to celebrate Candice Glover

The Lowcountry is celebrating a St. Helena Island native for making it as one of the final three contestants left on "American Idol". Signs of support for Candice Glover are on display around Beaufort County.

A parade will be held for Glover at 5 p.m. Saturday in Beaufort and a concert is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The parade will go from Bladen to Bay to Newcastle to Church to North streets and the route will be closed starting at, the Island Packet reports. See the parade route.

The Charles Street Extension will be closed all day so the stage can be build for Glover's show at Bay and Charles streets, the Island Packet reports. Bay Street will close between West and Newcastle streets at 1 p.m. Read more about the street closures in the Island Packet.

There won't be downtown parking available, according to the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. A free shuttle will be available. View shuttle schedule.

Up to 20,000 people are expected to attend the concert. Gov. Nikki Haley announced she would be in the parade and attending the concert.

The concert can also be viewed from a large LCD video screen set up at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, according to the Main Street Beaufort Facebook page.

Fans were encouraged to come out to the Signature Flight Support terminal at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to greet Glover as she arrived Friday night.
