TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

One of the original members of the Village People is on Tybee Island this weekend for the first ever Gay Days on Tybee.

The event kicked off Friday night at North Beach Grill and will continue Saturday at Marlin Monroe's.

Guest performer Randy Jones, better known as the cowboy from the Village People, will headline the White Party Fundraiser Saturday night, which has been moved to the YMCA because of high winds. The event will raise money for the Chatham Care Center, and children and teens suffering from HIV and AIDS.

"With this event we are trying to make a wish for these kids with pediatric AIDS. It is Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the YMCA," said Jones.

The event organizers will be brining beach sweep crews, which will hit the beach Sunday morning. A full team effort will take place Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a party at the Tybee Wedding Chapel.
