LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Oakland County's Republican executive is apologizing to the Jewish community for likening Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger to Adolf Hitler.
L. Brooks Patterson tweeted Friday night that he alienated some Jews when calling Bolger "Adolf Bolger."
Patterson says he was commenting on Bolger's "leadership style" during a Friday appearance on a public television show. He apologized to those offended.
Patterson is upset over Republican-backed legislation to end unlimited medical benefits for people catastrophically injured in car crashes. Patterson was seriously injured in a crash last year and his driver became a quadriplegic.
Patterson also criticized Bolger for removing Democrats from their committee assignments. Patterson says Bolger is arrogant and is embarrassing himself. Bolger says he likes Patterson and he was sad to see him act like he did.
