Man questioned by police in Broughton Street shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said a man they were looking to question in connection with a double shooting early Friday morning on West Broughton Street turned himself in.

Police said the man is no longer being sought. 

Police the man they wanted for questioning turned himself in. They got what they needed from him, and he is not facing any charges at this time, according to police.

The shootings occurred at about 3 a.m. near Broughton and Jefferson streets. Police said that as many as 100 people were around at the time.

Vaughn Cornelia, 20, and Mamie Smith, 20, were shot. Cornelia was taken by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center and went into surgery. Smith was also taken to Memorial with a non-life threatening wound.
