JEFF DAVIS CO., GA (WTOC) -

Two people have been arrested after an investigation by the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office into prescription forgery.

The investigation was conducted on April 26. The sheriff's office was contacted by Dr John Craine's office of Baxley about a prescription called in using information from the office staff and the doctor's credentials, according to the JDCSO.

The investigation found that information of Dr. Tonya Fordham, of Baxley, was used as well.

The sheriff's office said that Melissa Taylor and Matthew Walls defrauded CVS pharmacy and the Medicine Cabinet in Hazlehurst. Walls and Taylor illegally obtained approximately 240 Hydrocodone pills worth more than $1,000, according to the sheriff's office.

Taylor is charged with two counts of obtaining prescription medication by fraudulent means. Walls is charged with two counts of being a party to a crime.

Some parts of the investigation have been turned over to the U.S. Dept. of Justice.
