Boy Hospitalized After Accident

A Savannah-Chatham student is in the hospital tonight after being hit by a truck. The teen was trying to catch his bus when the accident happened. The accident happened about 6:50am this morning as 13-year-old Trevor Daniels was trying to catch his school bus at the intersection of Liberty Parkway and Lloyd Street.

Trevor's loved ones watched as he was treated on the scene after getting hit by this truck on his way to catch his school bus.

"The bus was coming and the boy, Trevor Daniels, 13-years-old, ran in front of the truck and was struck on Liberty Parkway," said Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Bucky Burnsed.

Trevor received mostly wounds to the head, and so far no broken bones have been found. Other students were transferred to another bus, while the driver of the truck was questioned by police. Initial reports don't show who is at fault.

"This truck is an older model truck and does not have antilock breaks and there are no skid marks, which would indicate speed," said Burnsed.

Police say they got numerous cell phone calls about accident, which proved to be a big help.

"Cell phones obviously played a big role here because we received...less than 100 but more than one 911 calls from people saying there was a child injured and that really did help in the recovery process," said Burnsed.

Police tell us, although Trevor is in serious condition, doctors say right now it does look favorable.
