The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance kicked off the 2013 request for donation and collection of school supplies for the fifth annual Ready! Set! Go! Back to School exposition. Thursday morning the event sponsors were introduced and the official call for donations was made.
The fifth annual RSG BTS expo, gives parents information and other resources to help their children have successful school years. The expo, which will be held 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Aug. 24, at the Savannah Civic Center, provides school supplies as well as information on after-school programs, health, nutrition and safety.
The biggest needs are loose leaf paper, composition books, index cards, pencils, pens, spiral notebooks, and glue sticks.
RSG BTS is a collaboration among the IMA, the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, the City of Savannah, Chatham County, nonprofit organizations, businesses and churches. It provided assistance to over 5,000 children at the 2012 event.
The first year the expo had over 3,600 attendees and it has grown to having over 5,000 attendees with over 80 exhibitor booths and almost 300 dental and health checks. This is one of the largest family events in the city.
