Man robbed, assaulted on south HHI

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery and assault that occurred Wednesday on the south end of the island.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the Coligny Beach parking lot on South Forest Beach Drive on a report of a strong arm robbery. A 21-year-old man told deputies he had been robbed.

The victim said he at the Tiki Hut with three friends and a 21-year-old man and his 23-year-old brother met them there later. After a while, they all left and the the victim walked to the Coligny Beach parking lot with the brothers.

The brothers attacked the victim and punched him in the head. They both continue to assault the victim, took his bag that had his wallet and cell phone, according to the BCSO.

The suspects then got into their white Ford Ranger pickup truck and left the area. The victim returned to the Tiki Hut for help.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his face, head, and neck and refused medical treatment.

The suspects have been tentatively identified, according to the BCSO. The investigating into the robbery continues.
