CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police have released surveillance video of a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman at a gas station, and later hit her with his car while she was riding away on her bicycle.

Officers say the incident took place Friday around 1 a.m. at a Kangaroo gas station located at 1406 Savannah Hwy.

According to an incident report, the suspect grabbed the victim's buttocks while outside the gas station. When the victim confronted the suspect, he became defensive.

Police say as the victim left the gas station on her bicycle to go home, the suspect followed her in his car.

According to the victim, she heard the suspect's motor rev right before the vehicle hit her back tire, throwing her to the ground along Wantoot Blvd. Police say she injured her left hand when she fell of the bike.

The report states the vehicle then stopped, turned around, and drove back towards Savannah Hwy.

The suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, between 30 and 40-years-old and between 5'8" and 6'0". He was driving a green sedan, possibly a Saturn or VW Jetta, with tented windows.
