St. Helena Island man arrested on drug charges

Beaufort Co. Sheriff's Office Drug Investigators arrested Frank Jason Major on drug charges May 10.

An investigation was conducted into Major selling illegal drugs out of his residence on Simmons Road on St. Helena Island. Investigators received information on numerous occasions that Major was selling drugs. A search warrant was obtained for the residence after authorities gathered  statements, performed surveillance on the residence and conducted controlled buys.

The search warrant was executed on the residence at approximately 4:30 a.m. May 10. Authorities located Major and he was taken into custody. Investigators located crack cocaine, cocaine, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia in the house.

Two other search warrants were obtained as a result of the information gathered during the investigation. Authorities searched a vacant residence on Kinfolk Ln. on St. Helena Island and found additional drug paraphernalia. Authorities also searched a wooded area on Simmons Rd. and Queen's Ct. This part of the investigation is ongoing.

Major has been charged with trafficking crack cocaine, trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Authorities seized approximately 36 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 27 grams of cocaine, approximately 66 grams of marijuana, one shotgun, three rifles, six handguns, $12,220 in U.S. currency, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

Additional suspects are being investigated and Major may face additional charges.
