SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A major accident on U.S. Highway 80 east over the weekend left one person dead and two others in serious condition.

It happened a little before 6 p.m. on Saturday about 1.5 miles west of Fort Pulaski. New details released show at least three vehicles were involved in the crash that had people stuck in traffic for hours.

Ben McDaniel, 25, of Dublin, GA, died at Memorial soon after the wreck.

Diana McGrady, 51, who was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash, and Grace McDaniel, 18, a passenger in the car, are listed in serious condition. Both women are also from Dublin.

Two others were treated at the crash site and released.

Alexander Gunn, 18, and Taylor Brown, 18, both of Savannah and occupants of another vehicle, were transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Metro investigators say Gunn was traveling eastbound when he suffered a medical condition, crossed the center line and sideswiped a pickup pulling a boat and trailer that was driven by James Hammond, 45, of Ellabell.

Gunn's pickup then crashed head-on into the car driven by McGrady.

MAIT continues to investigate.
