Garden City Police hold safety course for senior citizens

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

Seniors in Chatham County are learning how to better protect themselves. The Garden City Police Department held a safety course for senior citizens Monday night. They invited Gary Glemboski of the Global Tactical Training Group to go over self defense techniques and some basic concepts for personal protection.

"Some people have had more training than other being in the military and what have you but generally speaking, most of us who are seniors today just don't have that kind of experience," said Ronnie Edwards, student.

"Personal protection is a personal responsibility. You can't abdicate that responsibility to anybody, law enforcement or otherwise. You have to take responsibility for it yourself," said Glemboski.

The course will continue through the week.
