SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

United Way held the Women Who Rule Savannah event on Tuesday.

A panel of six professional and executive leaders discussed their experiences hoping to inspire them.

The panel members: Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson; Judge Louisa Abbot;  Mary Chatman, the chief nursing officer at Memorial Health; Brynn Grant, from SEDA; Cathy Hill, Georgia Power; Kathy Love, president of Savannah Technical College.

"Not only sharing with other women - opportunities that they have had or how they got into the positions they are in - but also about giving and caring about other people and understanding that there are other people out there that are in need," said Connie Farmer Ray, chair of the Women's Legacy Council.

The event is one of the United Way's many fund-raising events to help low-income women get transportation.

The fund-raising runs from Mother's Day through Father's Day.
