BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The total cost for American Idol star Candice Glover's hometown hero event was $33,000. That includes the cost for the parade and concert.

The Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce applied for an accommodation tax grant from the city, asking for nearly $20,000 to help pay for the event. Beaufort City Council is meeting Tuesday night to discuss if they are going to accept the application.

American Idol didn't cover any of the cost, according to the chamber. The chamber had to pay for a bus shuttle, the stage, lighting and sound for the concert. They also had to pay for the screen for the viewing of the concert at Waterfront Park.

The two American Idol viewing parties the chamber is hosting this week are being donated. The viewing party on Wednesday night is going to be at University of South Carolina Beaufort's performing arts center. The second party will take place at the Highway 21 Drive-In.
