SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Mark Deon Mack, 20, of Savannah, was arrested Tuesday for entering autos and other charges after striking a Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police car and being bitten by a police canine.

Mack was arrested on Truman Pkwy near Delesseps St. after witnesses reported seeing a white Dodge leaving a daycare center in the 8800 block of White Bluff Rd. where a car was entered and a purse was stolen.

A Southside Precinct Patrol officer attempted to stop the car on Truman Parkway but it hit the guardrail and a SCMPD patrol car. Mack, the sole occupant of the car, tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by a police canine officer who had joined the pursuit. He was treated for a dog bite wound at Memorial.

Police located the purse at a convenience store in the 3200 block of Skidaway Rd. where someone had attempted to use a bank card from the purse to purchase fuel.

Mack is charged with entering auto and party to the crime of financial transaction card fraud.

Detectives from multiple precincts are continuing to investigate.
