A Lowcountry neighborhood woke up Thursday morning to massive flames ripping through their Beaufort mobile home park. It happened at about 5 a.m. at a mobile home park on Shanklin and Laurel Bay roads.
One of the mobile homes became fully engulfed in flames and is a total loss. The other trailer has substantial fire damage.
No one was at the residence when fire crews arrived. Some neighbors say the man that lived in the home was being evicted and had what they call "strange" behavior. They say the situation is suspicious.
'He had some kind of problem because he would go out shooting stray dogs and he always carried a gun. He was a tad out of the ordinary," a neighbor said.
Crews were quick to bring the charred structure down. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Burton Fire Rescue told WTOC that the Beaufort County Fire Scene Investigation Team will look further into what happened and continue to investigate.
