SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Three people are recovering in the hospital after being shot in a west Savannah neighborhood. It happened near the intersection of Eagle and Richard streets.

Brenda Price came home Thursday to find her once quiet neighborhood the focus of an investigation.

"This is a very good neighborhood," said Price. "I was convinced to purchase a house in this area. I grew up around here so it was good to be back home. When I came this afternoon and saw all of this crime tape, I didn't know what was happening."

Investigators say just before 1 p.m. Thursday, one man and two women were shot. Price says it happened at a vacant house just across the street from where she lives.

"Most of the time, all you see is the children going up and down the street, playing basketball, going to Moses Jackson center, nothing like this right here," said Price. "It was like a war zone."

Price is just thankful the children weren't home from school.

"Children would have been out here and they would have got caught up in the gun fire," said Price. "A bullet doesn't have a name and I think something needs to be done."

Police spent the afternoon talking to witnesses and trying to get surveillance video from the cameras posted in the area. Investigators say they feel confident that with the help of the neighborhood they will solve this crime.

There is no word yet on the condition of the victims or a description of the suspect or suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020.
