BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Carol and Jonathan Glover say Candice wanted to be a singer all her life. It's what she was born to do, so seeing her smiling face a little less in the coming months doesn't bother them too much.

"It's a bit sad, but this is really what Candice wanted to do," said Carol. "Not so much live in the city, she's not a city girl, but she wants to be a singer, this is her dream. Singing is her heart."

The Glovers say Candice is booked with back to back interviews and rehearsals for the next two weeks. And in June she will hit the road for five months for the American Idol tour with the other finalist. And, after all of that, she'll start recording her album.

"I want to create an album that will touch peoples hearts," said Candice. "It doesn't matter what genre, whether it's R&B, soul or jazz, I just want to touch people."

Like Candice, her parents have been thrust into the spotlight.

"It's just interviews after interviews," said Carol. "They're calling me on the phone, one phone to the next. Oh my gosh, our lives have changed."

But Carol and Jonathan said they're going to continue to live the simple life they have always known on St. Helena Island.

"We're not glamorous people, so we'll just, you know, be from the country," said Carol

Carol had a simple message for all of Candice's fans.

"Beaufort, St. Helena, Savannah, and all of America, thank you so much for voting," said Carol. "You guys really did it. That's why Candice made American Idol, because you guys voted for her."
