Savannah Mile Run to benefit The 200 Club

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The 7th annual Savannah Mile Run will take place May 25 in Savannah. The run will begin at Forsyth Park and continue one mile straight down Drayton St., finishing on Broughton St. The event includes five heats and features a Fun Run Family Heat and five-year age groups, guaranteeing many award winners.

All of the proceeds from the event will go to The 200 Club, which provides immediate financial assistance to the surviving family of local law enforcement officers and firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty.

Prior to the Savannah Mile awards ceremony, a moment of silence will be observed to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings as well as the victims of the recent explosion in West Texas. Participants will also have the opportunity to donate money to The One Fund Boston, which benefits the people most affected by the tragic events in Boston.

The events will begin at 8 a.m. Registration costs $15 through April 30, $20 through May 23, and $25 on May 24 and May 25. First responders and military receive complimentary entry.
