A Ridgeland family gathering today to mourn the loss of a loved one.

Surrounded by family and friends, Tearwornia Woods cries out for answers, as to why her son was murdered.

"They killed my boy like a dog and I want to know who is responsible for killing my boy," said Woods.

Ridgeland Police officers say 24-year-old Darius Woods was found dead in the living room of his East Adams street home Saturday night.

"All I know is somebody went in and shot my boy and killed my boy for no reason," said Woods.  "What I want to know. From what I know they killed my boy for a play station."

Those close to Woods say he was a happy guy, who was raising a 2-year-old daughter.

"He was a good fellow," said Second Cousin Jermaine Bellany. "He has never been in any problems. We don't know what happened. We want somebody to come forward."

"Darius was a cool dude," said Cousin Ali Hayward. "I loved him like a brother. We did everything together. We grew up together. I can say nothing but good stuff about him. He will really be missed. "

"I hope they find who did it," said Neighbor Larcena Ryan. "There is so much violence and it needs to come to a stop.

Woods just hopes they get answers as to the motive behind her son killing.

"My son didn't bother anybody," said Woods. "I need to know who killed my boy like that. I need to know who is responsible. They have so many unsolved murders in Jasper County. Nobody knows nothing. I want to know why he killed my boy like that."

If you have any information you are asked to contact Investigators Lt. Daniel Litchfield or Sgt. Chris McIntosh with the Ridgeland Police Department at (843)-717-1035 or call 911.
