SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a bank robbery suspect.

On Tuesday, the FBI Violent Crime Task Force and SCMPD investigators released surveillance photos the suspect.

Police said that on Friday the man tried to rob the Carver State Bank branch on Skidaway Road. 

At about 10:30 a.m. police responded to the bank in the 7100 block of Skidaway Road. Police said a man armed with a pistol tried to open a door on the building's eastside that were locked by employees before he got there.

The suspect is described as a black male who is 5'6" tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, baggy blue jeans and white sneakers. The suspect ran eastbound. No money was taken.
