Child falls out of moving vehicle in Statesboro

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

At approximately 6:30 p.m. May 19, a two year old fell out of a moving vehicle onto the road at the intersection of West Main St. and Stockyard Rd. in Statesboro. The child received only scrapes and scratches from the incident. EMS transported the child to the hospital for treatment after police arrived at the scene.

Statesboro Police Officers learned that the child was in a child safety seat but the seat was not secured to the backseat of the vehicle and the child was not buckled into the child safety seat.

According to witnesses, as the vehicle made a right turn, the rear passenger door swung open allowing the child and seat to fall out of the moving vehicle.

The mother has been arrested and charged with child restraint violation, reckless conduct and driving while unlicensed.
