Dog with '300' brand set for adoption by man who found him suffering

Posted: Updated:
CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The dog who was rushed to the Charleston Animal Society after having the number 300 branded into both sides of its torso is set to be adopted on Friday.

According to animal society spokesperson Kay Hyman, the Good Samaritan who brought the poor pooch in after finding him suffering in North Charleston will gain custody of the dog, who staffers have been calling Lucky.

Hyman said Lucky is recovering from the burns, which caused a secondary infection, "Right now he is in pain…he is suffering a little bit."

Folks at the animal society said sometimes people mark their dogs if they're being used for hunting, but usually hair dye is used in those cases.

It’s unclear who is responsible for the abuse.
