SPRINGFIELD, GA (WTOC) -

An investigation is underway after an overnight shooting in Effingham County, and now deputies are looking to question a person of interest.

It happened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday at the Quail Run Mobile Home Park at the intersection of Quail Run Circle and Standard Lane in Springfield. Officials say one person was hit multiple times after some sort of altercation that turned violent.

According to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, the victim tried to run away, but was shot multiple times in the arms and legs. Witnesses are telling deputies they heard as many as eight to ten shots fired.

The victim was transported by a private vehicle to a nearby hospital, and from there he was then taken by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with serious injuries, but he is expected to survive.

Investigators are now looking for Jared Hartfield of Springfield for questioning. Hartfield is believed to be driving a white Chevy Tahoe with Georgia tag - BJD 4657.

Officials say the shooting was not random and that the victim and the suspect knew each other. They believe the victim was specifically targeted and say residents who live in the area should not be worried for their safety.

If you know where Jared Hartfield is or anything about the shooting, you are asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff's Office at 912.754.3449 immediately.
