Vigil held at Fort Stewart remembers fallen Armed Forces members
Fallen military members are remembered at a candlelight vigil.
HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -
A candlelight vigil was held Thursday at Fort Stewart.
Fort Stewart's Survivor Outreach held their third annual vigil to remember fallen soldiers in all branches and conflicts.
A military wife who attended brought her children to show them the importance of Memorial Day.
"On the way over here I even asked do you know what Memorial Day means and they said it's the time to remember all our fallen heroes like daddy. And I said, ‘Yes this is the day you do that.' And my son made the comment, ‘It's not about the parties,' and I said, ‘No, it's not about the parties or the time off. It's about appreciating the freedom you have and those that gave up that sacrifice for you to have those freedoms,'" Shanette Booker, wife of fallen hero.
Organizers said the vigil is meant to help people know their family members will not be forgotten.
