ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

An airport shuttle bus was involved in an accident on North Loop Road near the Southwestern Airline Maintenance hangar on Friday. It crashed into a tractor-trailer truck.

Lynn Rutherford was there working when she heard a loud crash.

"There was a lot of hurt people in that bus. I've never seen so much blood in my life," said Rutherford.

Rutherford said she is also a first responder so she tried to comfort the injured passengers until paramedics arrived.

"The bus driver was the first person I went to. She seemed the most distressed. I had no idea there were so many people in the back of the bus," said Rutherford. "There wasn't a passenger standing up. It was like they were all piled on the floor and on top of the passengers were suitcases."

Atlanta Fire and Rescue said 16 people were injured and taken to area hospitals.

"The driver had to be extricated by fire and rescue. It was reported that she had multiple breaks to her legs and arms," said College Park police Sgt. Keith Stanley.

All patients were discharged on Friday afternoon except for one person.

The shuttle services Fairfield Inn, Hilton Garden and Hampton hotels.

Hilton released this statement on Friday afternoon:

"At the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Airport our most important priority is the safety and well-being of our guests and team members. We express our deepest concern and sympathy for any guests who were injured in the hotel shuttle bus accident this morning.

"Our hotels contract with MTI Limo and Shuttle Services for airport shuttle transportation. The ownership of the Hilton Harden Inn Atlanta Airport (North) and Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta Airport (North I-85) is waiting for the completion of the accident investigation by the College Park Police Department."
