Parents react to suspicious package found at middle school

POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

On Friday, parents lined the Pine Barren Road, trying to retrieve their kids. The middle school students were relocated to West Chatham Elementary School after a suspicious package was found at West Chatham Middle School.

Savannah Chatham Metro Police and school officials advised parents to leave their kids in school and that the process was a precautionary measure, but many parents were too concerned and showed up anyway.

Hundreds of moms and dads came looking for answers and their students. Angle Boldin, a mother of two, was just eager to get them in the car.

"I told them I love you and it's ok. Everything is going to be fine. They are going to take care of everything and mommy has you now." Boldin told WTOC after getting her kids back.

While some were just happy to get their students, other parents were upset with how the school handled the situation.

"I'm aggravated and upset because anybody could come and pick up your kids, and nobody knew what was going on. One person was saying you could get your kids and the other one was saying you couldn't get your kids." said Susan Smith, one of many frustrated parents that had to wait for hours before their kids came out.

Some parents say their biggest concern was that officials never asked for an ID to prove that they were in fact the legal guardian or rightful parent to each student.
