HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority presented its first Rehabilitation Façade Grant to Dryden Enterprises this week.

HDDA established the façade grant program in 2005 to help Downtown business and property owners make improvements to their property exteriors with more than a dozen façade grants issued to date.

The $7,500 check presented to Dryden Enterprises is a reimbursement of the matching grant for the three historic store fronts located at 122, 124, and 126 South Main Street in Downtown Hinesville, completed earlier this spring.

One of the rehabilitated store fronts is known as Nottingham's Café, a staple eatery in the 80's and early 90's.  An original 1932 Fleischmann's soda fountain still remains in the historic structure as well as other historic features that were retained in the properties.  The properties are currently vacant and available for purchase.

The storefronts have been rehabilitated with period appropriate wire-cut brick with decorative detail to match the surrounding properties with upgraded windows, new awnings and goose neck lighting.

Hinesville's historic Main Street District has experienced several new developments and property improvements in the last few years with the new Justice Center and City Hall, completed in 2011, followed by total building rehabilitations by Blue Heron Properties (Coastal Courier) and RTS Homes.
