Posted: Updated:

Hinesville police are investigating a death that took place at the Cypress Bend Mobile Home Park on E.G. Miles Parkway Monday afternoon.

Police say two male Ft. Stewart soldiers were involved in the incident. According to police, one soldier called 911 around 1 p.m. to report an accidental shooting.

Neighbors say a woman and child live in the mobile home where the incident took place but were not home at the time.

Right now, police are not sure if the shooting was accidental. They are trying to determine who pulled the trigger and whether it was intentional.

Police also found numerous firearms in the mobile home.

Police had the soldier who called 911 on Monday in custody but he was later released. Investigators say he told them that he accidentally shot the victim. He has not been arrested or charged.

Maj. Cribbs says he will meet with District Attorney Tom Durden at 10 a.m. Wednesday before releasing names or further details about the case.
