One killed in head-on collision on Chatham Parkway

The driver of a car was killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck on Chatham Parkway near Telfair Road. The driver of a car was killed in a head-on collision with a pickup truck on Chatham Parkway near Telfair Road.
GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

The driver of a car that slammed into a pickup truck was killed Thursday afternoon. 

Garden City police and Georgia State Patrol responded to the collision involving a car and a truck near the intersection of Chatham Parkway and Telfair Road.

A state trooper told WTOC that the the driver of the car died. 

Witnesses say the car drifted into the left lane and crashed head-on into the truck that was sitting in the turning lane. The driver of the truck was not injured.

    Subtropical Storm Alberto continues to bring heavy rain and a high risk for rip currents to the Gulf Coast.  Alberto is just west of Tampa and moving to north by northwest at 12mph.  Peak winds are 50 mph and no significant strengthening is expected as we head into Monday.
