Savannah man wins $1 million on scratch-off lottery ticket

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man who owns a marine canvas and upholstery business has won the top prize on a Georgia Lottery scratch-off ticket. Allen Douberly, 45, played the Georgia Lottery 20th Anniversary Extravaganza instant game and won $1 million.

Douberly purchased the ticket at BDG Food Mart on Skidaway Rd. in Savannah on his way to work.

"I scratched the ticket outside of my business," Douberly said in a press release. "I almost had a heart attack."

On Wednesday, Georgia Lottery representatives presented Douberly with an oversized check at the store where he purchase the winning ticket.

"It hasn't hit me yet," Douberly said in a press release.

Douberly says he intends to invest the winnings in his business.
