Tropical Storm warnings in effect for GA

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A tropical storm warning is in effect for all Georgia coastal counties and all of the marine area, which means conditions are likely to produce TS winds in the next 24 hrs.

Forecasters say the main concern with TS Andrea as it approaches the area later Thursday is the potential for heavy rainfall and possible flooding. Also, depending on the exact track of the storm, there will be the potential for isolated tornadoes late Thursday afternoon and throughout the evening.

A flash flood watch has been expanded early Thursday to include all of southwest and south central Georgia and part of northeast Georgia. That area includes Albany, Macon, Dublin, Vidalia, Statesboro and Augusta.

Forecasters said isolated areas in Florida and southeastern Georgia could get 8 inches of rain.

Now is the time to complete your preparations to protect yourself, your family, and your property. Secure your home and plan to be prepared to evacuate if directed, especially if your home is vulnerable to high winds or flooding.
