Fifth-graders at Port Wentworth are officially sixth-graders.
On Friday, the students bridging ceremony was held for all the students. The ceremony is essentially a graduation for those transitioning from elementary school to middle school.
The ceremony is always held on the last day of school. This year the school had a number of students perform well on standardized tests.
"As an administrator - that is like the ultimate because you try all year long to get the teachers to help the students and do interventions with them and all that - so it means a lot to our administration to see all our students succeed," said Ana Carter, assistant principal at Port Wentworth Elementary School.
WTOC's Brandi Cummings spoke at the ceremony.
