Savannah Arts Academy recognized seniors during an awards presentation on Friday.
Several of the school's teachers and clubs handed out honor cords and medals to congratulate seniors for their outstanding academic performance. This year's class had 109 honor graduates and collected a record amount of scholarship money.
"We have 79 students who have been offered a total of over $8.1 million worth of scholarship opportunities. We would be here for days if we recognized all of them," said Michael Corbett, lead counselor, Savannah Arts Academy.
"I have been through a lot these last couple of years and it has taken me a long road to get where I am and I am truly excited and ready to see what life has in store for me," said Nia Dawson, Savannah Arts Academy senior.
WTOC's Dawn Baker awarded her scholarship on behalf of Dawn's Daughter for the second consecutive year. This year's recipiant went to Nia Dawson.
