Man shot near Ott Street, Park Avenue

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to a report of shots fired at East Park Avenue and Ott Street at 2:20 p.m. Friday. Police say at least one shot was fired.

When authorities arrived, they discovered one male shot. Police say he was transported to Memorial. The condition of the victim is unknown.

Police say the two men encountered each other walking down the street and shots were fired. Police have taken a male suspect into custody. They have also located the weapon.

"The only thing that we know is that they encountered each other walking down the street, they were involved in some sort of altercation, and at that point, shots were fired. The suspect is in custody and we do have his weapon. It is being logged by Metro officers," said Eunicia Baker, SCMPD.

The shooting took place outside of a house but police say to their knowledge, nothing happened inside. They do not know who the residents of the house are.

Police also found shoes and pants in the street.
