The City of Savannah may be growing very soon. City council approved a petition to annex 448 acres of land on Savannah's south side near Georgetown. The city already provides water and sewer service to that area.
The plan right now is to build about 900 new homes, bringing 3,000 new residents to Savannah.
"It increases the city's tax base, increases the population, of course we would be responsible for services, but an increase is good for us and it's an opportunity the city should use," said council member Clifton Jones.
The city will give final approval to any development plans once they are formally submitted.
