SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

There's a change at the top at Hunter Army Airfield.

For the new Garrison Commander, it's a homecoming.

Lt. Col. Ed Kovaleski passed the garrison colors to Lt. Col. Clarence W. "Will" Bowman III, a Charleston native and Citadel grad. He was first commissioned a marine second lieutenant and participated in five combat tours in Iraq. Most recently, he served as X.O. for Army Special Forces Command at Fort Bragg.

His right arm will be Cmd. Sgt. Maj. James Mitchell, who accepted the sword of responsibility from outgoing Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Stanley Hood.

The men accepted great responsibilities at Hunter, credited their predecessors and embraced their new roles going forward.
