Operation Hero House held their grand raffle Thursday night with Paula Deen serving as the emcee. Chris Beecher and Tanya Kemmerlin won the grand prize. They decided to split $10,000 instead of taking a chance on a brand new car. Vaden Nissan of Hinesville donated the car to help raise money from Operation Hero, but instead of taking the car, the winners split the money, and they both gave $1,000 back to the program. Lamar Smith lead the way to build a custom home for a selected wounded warrior.
"Our goal tonight is to raise enough money to buy the land that the house is going to be built on. They have kicked in to donate materials, their labor to build the home, but we have to buy a lot to put this house on, and that is what we are working on here tonight," said Smith, Operation Hero House.
All of the money for Operation Hero House comes from the donations and services given from over 135 independent vendors and businesses.
