CERT offers disaster preparedness class for Beaufort Co. residents

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

The Community Emergency Response Team is offering classes free of charge to Beaufort County residents. The program provides training to increase self-sufficiency in a disaster. Participants will get the chance to learn skills that will enable them to provide emergency assistance to their families and neighbors.

The CERT classes will be held at the Technical College of the Lowcountry, Building 23, 921 Ribaut Rd., in Beaufort.

The course is taught in five class sessions, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, June 18th -- Personal Preparedness and Hazard Mitigation
  • Thursday, June 20th -- Disaster Medical I
  • Tuesday, June 25th -- Fire Suppression / Disaster Search Techniques
  • Thursday, June 27th – Disaster Medical II / CERT Organization
  • Saturday, June 29th – Disaster Psychology/ Terrorism Response & Completion Exercise
