SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The United States Army turned 238 years old Friday. Soldiers around the world celebrated, including 3rd Infantry Division soldiers deployed in Afghanistan at Kandahar. Maj. Gen. Abe Abrams cut the cake with Command Sgt. Maj. Ed Watson and the oldest and youngest soldiers, noting they are always ready to answer the call.

"When our president demands immediate, unambiguous and unequivocal overwhelming decisive action to achieve national objectives and to protect our vital American interests, he calls on the United States Army," said Abrams.

After the ceremony, Abrams put another set of streamers on their flag.
