Multiple wrecks halt traffic on I-95NB

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Several accidents on Interstate 95 brought northbound traffic to a standstill Sunday afternoon.

The initial wreck occurred around 4 p.m. near mile marker 111 in the Knoxboro Creek area. The minor fender bender caused another accident involving a semi and a pick-up truck that was hauling a U-haul.

The second incident caused a chain reaction of multiple vehicles getting rear-ended.

Moments later, another vehicle ran into a semi truck.

Georgia State Patrol tells WTOC a semi was slowing down in the middle lane and a Chevy TrailBlazer, unable to slow down, slammed into the back of the semi.

The various wrecks shut down all northbound lanes of I-95.

All lanes are back open but traffic is moving slow.

Officials say only minor injuries were reported and they are investigating the incidents.
