Town council to discuss changes to Bluffton's smoking law

Posted: Updated:
BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

Bluffton's town council is discussing a proposed change to the town's smoking law that would allow current tobacco shops to sell beer and wine while allowing patrons to smoke cigars.

Only cigars will be allowed to be smoked, not cigarettes. Other towns in the state, including Hilton Head Island, have passed similar laws.

"For those who enjoy that, there's no reason that they can't. I think it's a wonderful opportunity for Bluffton to grow into a few great things. I don't see a problem with it at all. I think it's a great thing" said Doug Hoover, Katie O'Donald's Irish Pub.

The proposed change was made on behalf of the owner of Peaceful Henry's Cigars and Tobacco in Bluffton.
