CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Tens of thousands of adults and children at aquatic centers around the world are coming together for the fourth year in a row to set a new Guinness World Record for the world's largest swimming lesson.
Sixty children along with 10 volunteer instructors at the Chatham County Aquatic Center joined in on the fun. Mary Ryan Aimar explained the importance of teaching your child how to swim.
"Drowning is a very preventable accident and learning to swim really decreases your chances of drowning. So we really want to promote that swimming lessons do save lives," she said.
The current world record stands at 24,873 participants representing 15 different countries.
