Godley Station eighth-graders will remain at the school's campus next year.

The Savannah-Chatham Co. Public School Board had wanted to put the eighth grade at New Hampstead High School to ease some overcrowding at Godley, which is K-8.

After a special board meeting Tuesday, the board decided to allow the students to stay at the main campus.

Principal Allison Schuster-Jones said she is happy to keep students at Godley Station.

"We're going to make next year great for our students. Whether at New Hampstead or whether at Godley Station School, it's going to be a great year, and we're going to be excited to be able to plan for it now and know that we're all going to be here under one roof," Schuster-Jones said.

Godley Station students are districted to go to New Hampstead High for high school.
