SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Robert Martin, 52, the Texas man charged in the wreck that killed Savannah jazz legend Ben Tucker, appeared in Chatham County Recorder's Court on Thursday.

During Martin's first court appearance, Chatham County Recorder's Court Chief Judge Tammy Stokes denied him bond.

Last Wednesday, Martin's attorney filed a motion asking Stokes to reconsider.

On Thursday, Stokes set a bond of $75,000 with the condition that Martin does not leave the country or apply for a passport. Martin is also banned from the state of Georgia except for civil matters. He is also not allowed to drive in Georgia.

Martin is charged with racing, vehicular homicide in the first degree and reckless driving.
