PEMBROKE, GA (WTOC) -

Two people are in custody after a multi-agency operation resulted in the seizure of a large amount of marijuana by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.

On Thursday, CNT Agents in a working partnership with the Garden City Police Department received information that a large amount of marijuana was believed to be at a residence in the Pembroke area. With assistance from the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Unit, CNT identified the suspected residence in the 6900 block of Hwy 280 in East Pembroke.

CNT Agents working undercover identified Jonathan McKinney, 33, and Kahlihla Brown, 34, as potential suspects connected to the residence. Through the use of various investigative techniques, CNT obtained a search warrant for the residence with the assistance of the Bryan County Sheriff's Office and the Tri Circuit Drug Task Force. Authorities executed the warrant shortly after 4 p.m.

As a result of the search warrant, authorities seized more than 40 pounds of marijuana, one firearm and more than $700 in cash. Three juveniles, ages 5-12, were observed running from the house with bags and boxes in their possession during the execution of the search warrant. Authorities apprehended all three juveniles. They were found to be in possession of large amounts of marijuana. The investigation revealed that Brown told the juveniles to flee the residence with marijuana.

McKinney and Brown were both arrested at the time of the search warrant. McKinney has been charged with criminal attempt to possess a controlled substance (marijuana). Brown has been charged with trafficking marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to authorities, all three juveniles were released to family members.

Authorities say the seized marijuana has an estimated street value of up to $52,000.
