SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Nearly 200 volunteers from Savannah will be working to make life better for three local families on Saturday as part of a 20-city statewide initiative. It is all part of the third annual Wells Fargo's Community Service Super Saturday. Around 1,000 red-shirted Wells Fargo volunteers and friends will be out in force across Georgia for the event.

In Savannah, volunteers will be doing good work at two events on Saturday.

Around 175 volunteers will be painting the interior and exterior of two homes in Savannah Gardens, which will be the largest volunteer event across the state. Wells Fargo will also be presenting the Community Housing Services Agency with $35,000, the largest grant awarded on Saturday.

Volunteers from YouthBuild – high school dropouts earning a trade in carpentry while they work to get their GEDs – plus CHSA and the city of Savannah will be joining Wells Fargo at Savannah Gardens.

One of the homes in Savannah Gardens will be the first home for a family with four young children. The parents will take time out from a home buyer education class to thank and cheer on Wells Fargo volunteers on Saturday.

Volunteers will also be helping to construct a home with Savannah Habitat for Humanity. Wells Fargo will be presenting Savannah Habitat for Humanity with a check for $20,000. Wells Fargo volunteers have been working with the group for several weeks, serving a total of 300 volunteer hours.

"This is our favorite time of year," said Emily Galloway, area president for Wells Fargo. "We are honored to serve our communities in this way and we're proud to give to such worthy organizations."

25 volunteer activities will be taking place across Georgia as part of Community Service Super Saturday. Three events will be taking place in Augusta and Columbus. Volunteers in other cities, including Americus, Athens, Dalton, Macon, Rome and Warner Robins, will show their support at a single event.

Wells Fargo will be donating $205,000 in all to upgrade the housing situations of 14 Georgia families, either by building new homes or repairing existing ones. A majority of the work will be done in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The organization will be receiving $150,000 in all.
