Atlanta Police found a man dead behind the wheel of an SUV that had driven into the front of a northwest Atlanta home.
The driver was 35-year-old Ashley Brown of Columbia, SC. But police said he was shot four times, and was dead when they got to the scene.
The accident happened at Alicia McCoy's home on Kingston Road around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. McCoy said her two grandchildren normally play in the front room where the car struck the home.
"I have to keep them every night and they'd be all up playing, my little babies they'd be outdoors playing," McCoy said. "It was indescribable, it was too spooky."
McCoy is thankful the children were not home Saturday night.
"When they pulled up to the house, I wasn't even thinking or nothing," McCoy said. "I just heard that thump and just jumped up and I wanted to run but after I looked at the situation I just praised God."
Police believe Brown had been shot at another location and are still searching for the shooter.
McCoy's family now has to fix up the front of the home, which has been boarded up since the accident.
